4) The X factor usually uses songs produced from Sony's back catalogue but after researching One Directions songs from the show I also found that they sometimes use Universals back catalogue too. They then distribute them with their "new" talent and with audience feedback (votes) figure out what is still popular or becoming popular again for them to resell/restyle.
5) The X factor's visualisation is image over song. They focus on the package. The look, the sob story etc. They use songs they already know people know and focus on the commerical success. The X factor is also its own Soundscape as its a whole other way to resell music and make more money while finding new talent.
6) Syco focuses on three areas. Syco Film, TV, Music. It's based in London and LA. Syco Film is fairly new and their first project is going to be One Directions film "This Is Us". All Music acts signed to Syco are either winners/contestants from either X factor or Britain's Got Talent and those who make it in America have joint record deals with Columbia, who are also part of Sony.
Examples: 1D, Little Mix, Susan Boyle, Leona Lewis and Olly Murs.
As for TV, Syco are mostly talent based shows such as Britain's Got Talent and X Factor, but have branched out into shows such as Piers Morgans Life Stories and Red Or Black. Both of these shows can be tools in marketing Syco's clients. All of these shows are broadcasted on ITV/2.
7) For X factor 2012, previous winners and contestants filmed adverts of themselves reliving their X Factor experience. The main focus point of the X Factor this year is the amount of scandals and press it got from them. Louis Walsh being told to take it to deadlock and "accidentally" being caught being told. Nicole's microphone being turned off during the live shows performances. Gary and Rylans constant banter. This was due to the show have the lowest ratings since 2005 and the scandals helped boost ratings for a short while but still remained low as some people refused to watch after realising the massive controversy/fake the show is. Previous winners/ contestants helped promote the show such as One Direction over twitter whom backed James Arthur from the beginning who ironically won.

1D Case Study- 3 NOTES
One Direction are promoted and distributed mostly by social media. Social networking played a large part in the bands success.
Each member has a twitter account with over 10 million followers each. Even friends and family of the group have well over a million. Also every month our so the band members either do joint or separate twitcams. This builds a rapport with the fans and makes them feel closer to the members. In 2012 Zayn quit twitter due to the hate he was receiving and "directioners" took to twitter until he rejoined the site. Directioners is the name that the boys refer to their fans as, making a relationship with the band and fans. Also due to their large fan base, the boys and events linking to the boys has trended worldwide on twitter helping promote the event. For example when One Directions name of the first single of "Take Me Home" was released, fans trended it for over 24 hours worldwide.
While on the X-factor the band did a weekly video diary. These proved very popular with fans and they carried on the video diaries when they started touring themselves and kept fans up to date. Fans were able to leave comments and questions on YouTube for the boys to answer. Each member also has instagram and puts photos up regularly.
For the promotion of their first CD "Up All Night", Cyberpunk was introduced to get fans involved and promote the CD. Challenges would be set to "get the laptop back" that helped promote the CD when fans made videos and photos that were part of challenges. I personally remember the site crashed for several hours due to the amount of people getting involved.
Competitions such as "Bring1DToMe" were also used to promote the boys tour. All of the boys are very close to radio host such as Nick Grimshawl and they make appearances very often. Their very first single every was released on Radio 1. Also they have performed on the X-factor multiply times, including the American and Australian version of the show.
One Direction also had a 1-2 hour show on ITV, where you followed them around while they built their fan base. Ironically on the same channel as the X-factor.

They are a 50 million business empire.

Construction.
On our group blog the labels of each piece of work illustrate who did what during planning: http://beeanutproductions.blogspot.co.uk
As for filming and editing we decided to use my rough edit to work from for our final cut so my main job was editing, colour grading and motion. Also filming wise the ratio of who shot most was more to myself so I did not contribute to soundtrack or title slates.

There is also another video of me filming but unfortunately Deborah did not upload it to the group account so I am unable to find it and embed it. You can find it on the group blog though in the evidence post which is linked above.
